XAVIER MAGALDI

Originally from Geneva, Xavier Magaldi discovered graffiti at the end of the 80s. It is the work of the letter that interests him particularly. After a few years of wild-style spent torturing letters, he moves on to free-style, a style that can be found mainly in Barcelona where he painted during many summers. It was these moments of free art and pure creation that pushed him to move on to develop studio work. Today, he concentrates on research focused on the abstract and the mechanical. Because of his profession as a watchmaker, precision, geometry and technical drawing are part of his work. He is at the same time nourished by the cubism of the 20's, for the geometrical thought, and the machinism advocated by the Italian futurists. It is in this quest for the materialization of time that the paintings and sculptures of Xavier Magaldi take root. In 2013 he created a new movement called "MecaFuturism".
Both massive and aerial, the works of Xavier Magaldi defy the laws of gravity. Raw materials such as metal and concrete are worked with astonishing precision and finesse, creating an impression of lightness and fluidity. Insatiable researcher of forms and geometries, he continues to develop his vision in sculptures. His pictorial writing now extends towards a consolidation of his techniques, a new wealth of materials and an even greater precision of his gesture.
